The international community of scientists working on development and applications of altimetry in the coastal zone is meeting again in Porto this coming October for the 4th Workshop of this successful Coastal Altimetry series, hosted by the Faculty of Science, University of Porto
Note that the 4th Coastal Altimetry Workshop is held at the end of the week preceding the Altimetry for Oceans and Hydrology events in Lisbon, which include the Ocean Surface Topography Science Team (OST-ST) meeting (18-20 October) and the workshop Towards High-Resolution of Ocean Dynamics and Terrestrial Surface Waters from space (21-22 October). Therefore you can conveniently attend both events since Lisbon is not far from Porto, and travel is possible by train in (~3h) or airplane (<1h).
